Happy birthday, Beatrice!

The baby is four weeks old today and it's time to catch up on all her adventures during her first month of life.

She met all four of her grandparents; her uncle James; her cousins Rosemary, Sandy, and Ashley; and her aunts Mina and Gillian.









She hung out with the dogs (and Cromwell figured out that he could ride in the shade under the stroller instead of walking in the heat).



She spent time with her dad on his paternity leave.



And with her mom.



She worked on lifting her head and tried ambitiously if vainly to crawl.




She learned to use a bottle, thanks to her Aunt Mina.



But mostly she just hung around, accomplishing nothing.

Thank you, Mom!

My mother just went home on Sunday after spending two weeks helping me with the house, the dogs, and the baby, and we missed her about two minutes after she left. Beatrice is particularly fond of my mother singing to her - I'm afraid my singing will be a poor substitute.

Welcome Beatrice Kumar

Beatrice Kumar was born at 2:31pm on June 2nd at 6 pounds, 3 ounces and 19-1/2 inches long after a quick and relatively easy labor. Everyone is doing really well, resting and getting to know each other, and we'll all be going home tomorrow afternoon.
